WelcomeWelcome to the Zakiva! Before you begin posting there are some rules you need to read and are expected to follow. Please read ALL of the rules. Anyone found breaking the rules will be punished at the discretion of the administrators. Ignoring or breaking any rules can lead to the removal of characters, expulsion from roleplaying or permanent banning. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM. I reserve the right to change, delete, and break or ignore any rule listed here as creator of this forum.[/blockquote] Happy roleplaying, ~Winter Mother Nature

General - Do not disrupt the forum. You should not harass, bully, annoy, insult or intentionally start fights with others. If someone asks you to stop, you need to kindly stop.
- Be civil. You can curse and be nasty all you want in-character, but out-of-character fighting won't be tolerated. If you NEED to fight, do it over PM where it won't bother the rest of us
- Use common sense and be courteous to all members. This includes staff members. We’re people, too! If you are being rude to anyone on the Chat or forum, you will be punished, no questions asked. I do not tolerate public disruptions on my site.
- Avoid extreme chatspeak. While lol, wtf, and omg are commonly used, do not, “spk lyk ths.” (speak like this) even in OOC chat areas unless it is part of one of the games. Chatspeak is absolutely not allowed in the IC boards.
- Spamming is not allowed. Duplicate, short, or annoying posts that do not contribute to the conversation will be deleted.
- Do not create multiple accounts. You are allowed multiple characters on a single account so more than one account is unnecessary.
- Signatures must not stretch the board. If it stretches the board it's too large and you will be warned.
- Forum rules apply to signatures. If anything in your signature is found to be
inappropriate or rule breaking it will be edited or removed.

Posting - Liquid time is allowed. It enables a member to post in more than one thread at the same time. It means you're able to have multiple threads with the same character at the same time.
- RP in third person, please.
- Posts need to be at least six(6) sentences long. I'm not usually strict about post lengths, but they should be detailed and give others something to reply to. Absolutely no one-liners!
- Proboards has a spell-check button at the bottom of every posting screen, so please use it! You're expected to know how to spell and use grammar in English; you may lose in-character fights if you don't!
- The timestamp on the first post in a thread defines the thread's setting. For example, a thread started in the game's spring season should still be played as a springtime thread even if it drags on until autumn.
- When a thread you are role playing in is finished, please put {Fin}, indicating it's finished, in the title. This is so that the staff knows it's over and done with and may be moved to the Archives.

Breeding && Birthing - A single birthing generally produces one foal. Twins may be purchased with Hoofprints at the store.
- Birthings are not restricted to certain seasons. Feel free to have foals any time of the year. But keep in mind a foal born in early winter is more likely to die than one born in late spring.
- Forcebreeding is allowed.
- Breeding may only take place in the Firelight Fields. Unless a mare is being forcebred.
- Birthing may only take place in Golden Oasis.
- No graphically descriptive breedings or births. Keep things PG-13.
- Characters must have met at least once in order to breed.
- Mares and stallions must be three years old to breed.
- Pregnancies must last at least two weeks real time before the foal is born. Feel free to have the pregnancy last longer if you wish.
- Wait at least four weeks real time before having another foal. Per character.
- Don’t forget to fill out the ‘Foal Form’. Once you have read and followed the rules listed above fill out the form in the 'Foal' post below. Both parents must post separate forms in the 'Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter Births' board and Mother Nature will reply with the foal's stats. After that, your horses may RP the birth if you wish, but not the breeding. (Graphic breeding is strictly prohibited!)

Foals Each parent must post their own form, but use the same thread. The thread title should be the foal's parents' names.
- Example: The parents of the foal are Raikiela and Aelus. So the foal thread title would be Raikiela x Aelus or Aelus x Raikiela
The title must be exactly right, or your request will not be accepted.
Name: Your character's full name. Age: How old is your character? Birth Season: Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter Species: Horse, or one of the special equine species from the store. Breed: Gender: Male or female? Height: In hands, please. Eye Color: Horse eyes are usually black or very dark brown, but can be blue or amber. Coat Color: Must be realistic! Mane and Tail Color: Distinguishing Marks: White markings (facial/leg markings, etc.), scars, physical deformities -- anything that could be used to identify your character in a line-up. Other Offspring: How many foals has this character had so far (not counting this breeding)?
Connection: Here, place either a link to the in-character breeding of your horses or (if you chose to omit that scene) to their latest thread together.

Fighting - Both mares and stallions can fight.
- Fights can be over almost anything. Most commonly, stallions will fight for a the Lead Stallion position. Mares may fight for Lead Mare position.
- Horses may not fight over an any other position. Such as in the Willowbrook herd, Outriders and Elders are chosen by the Lead Stallion.
- All fights will take place in the Wildwood Forest.
- Staff will judge the fight based partly on what happens in-character, but mostly on post quality (spelling, grammar, style, etc.).
- If a staff member is in a fight, he/she won't be able to judge that fight. Obviously!
- Posting an in-character challenge prior to posting the fight is required. It gives both players a chance to set terms.
- Players must make the terms of their fight very clear (in writing) somewhere in either the challenge thread or the fight itself.
- If a defender has not answered a challenge after three days, and that defender's player has not posted a note of absence, then the fight is automatically won by the challenger.
- If any party has not replied to their fight thread after three days, and the player has not posted a note of absence, then the fight is automatically won by the opponent.

Mare && Territory Claiming && Stealing - To claim the Lead Stallion position in a herd, a stallion must have at least two mares running with him (one to become lead mare).
- Mares can only be claimed in the Wildflower Fields.
- If a stallion loses a fight for a herd, his mares become part of the winner's herd unless the winner decides to kick them out.
- All Lead Stallions must have a Lead Mare.
- Stallions may steal any horse. Except for other stallions.
- Only Lead Stallions may guess a mare. And they can only guess mares from their herd.
- You must post a riddle in the 'Thefts' board if you wish to steal. The riddle must contain clues to the identity of the mare being stolen and must be long enough to give plenty of clues. If, at the end of the time limit and the mare is identified, the clues are deemed too vague or do not describe the target mare, then the theft will be voided and the mare will not be stolen.
- Example:
"Oh sweet mare of dark and light, I will keep you safe in your endless night."
- If the target mare is not guessed correctly by her Lead Stallion at the end of the time limit, then the thief will have won the mare. The thief must them post an explanation for the clues in the riddle.
- Example:
"Oh sweet mare of dark and light, I will keep you safe in your endless night." ------- 'Oh sweet mare' refers to Illusion's personality, 'of dark and light' refers to her black and white coat and 'in your endless night' refers to her blindness.
- The stallion who owns the target mare must answer the riddle with the correct mare's name to keep her from being stolen within the time limit. Stallions have two days and two chances to guess the correct mare(if it is their mare. Stallions cannot guess mares that are not in their herd.)
- The author of the riddle must answer all guesses, whether correct or incorrect, within at least 5 hours of the theft's deadline. If a stallion guesses correctly, it is presumed that the thief was caught in the act. The thief may then flee the scene or fight for the subject of the theft.

Time && Aging - One in-character year is equal to two real months, at two real weeks per in-character season (spring, summer, autumn, and winter). That means that one real day is equal to just under one in-character week!
- No character may live past the age of 25 years.
- A stallion is any male horse at or over four years of age; a mare is any female horse at or over four years of age.
